Just an eye-full
While researching a project on Sheila Levrant de Bretteville for a school project last year I came across this interesting photograph of the designer, artist, and educator:

There she was, covering her eye, laughing…what was going on here?
Following the link, I discovered a terrific photo-diary being kept by Ahn Sang-Soo. Each image (over 3,300 to date) reveals the subjects covering an eye.
Flash forward to a tasting at our favorite local wine shop Silverlake Wine. Friends and client Valerie Confections were part of the savvy shop’s “sunday at three” series which pairs four wines with four tasty treats.
I hastily nibbled and sampled through the first pairing. Seeing my empty glass, the generous host asked if I would like a refill of the wine.
“Just an eyeful,” I replied.
The expression brought to mind Ahn Sang-Soo’s diary. Soon, I was asking people to hold up their wine glass to their eye, reinterpreting the project.
Fellow taster Yon and I snapped pictures on his iPhone. It made made for a fun, slightly boozy series of pictures:
